Coach Information
We are excited to have you join MPYSA. Coaches are the backbone of our organization.
We appreciate your time and effort in volunteering for the youth in our community.
There are a few things coaches must complete before their first practice with their team. Per NTSSA, Coaches will need a background check and a safesport requirement. If you are new and do not have a GotSport account please click left button and create yourself an account in our coach program. After creating an account go to https://system.gotsport.com/. After the account is created you can complete the requirements by following the links under resources.
If you are returning please click button on right & login to complete your background check and your SafeSport requirement. Instructions can be found in the links below under coach resources. If you have any questions or concerns please email us at mpysa2018@gmail.com.
BEFORE SEASON STARTS
Background Checks
All teams contacts (Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Managers, etc) must pass a background check each year. Current background checks expire May 31st of each year. NEW checks must be completed after June 1st.
To request a background check, log into your Gotsport account and follow these steps:

In the gray bar, click on the link called 'Background Checks'

Click on the button called 'Submit New Report'

Enter your information and click 'Submit'
It can take a few days for the report to come back with a result. If you are approved, you will be attached to your team account.
SafeSport Training
All coaches, assistants and managers must complete the SafeSport Training before they can be place on a team. The SafeSport Training Certification expires on May 31, each year. Once you have taken the full class you are able to renew your certification with a 15-minute refresher course. This training is available at NO cost to MSA Coaches, Managers and Team Contacts through the U.S. Center for SafeSport The training modules will help to increase your awareness regarding:

Practice Schedules
Coaches pick practice dates and times at the coaches meeting before the season begins. Practices are scheduled for 60 minute increments beginning at 5:30 or 6:30, Monday - Friday. Teams can choose 1-2 practice days, based on field availability and age groups.
It is necessary to schedule some games for week night evenings and those games take precedent over practices. Coaches should actively check their game schedule to note conflicts.
There are no lights at jurney park. Coaches are to find practice time at this location and may disburse other locations if have approval to practice there. Please reach out to commissioner to set these schedules up.
Uniforms
U4-U8 teams are required to find a $100 sponsor to help with uniforms. Sponsors name will go on the Season Banner that will be displayed during game days.
U9 & Up Teams are required to find sponsors to help provided jerseys for their team. Each coach will work on this independently. Sponsors $250 or more will get a sponsor plaque. Reimbursement process will end after the second week of starting the season.
Contact your Players
Once you have been tied to a team and the team rosters have been released (usually right after the coaches meeting), please contact your player's parents. Even a note giving them your contact information and telling them you will be getting back with them about practice schedules will go a long way in helping answer many of the pre-season questions we get! Parents will be notified about a timeline on which coaches should have been contacted them. Lets stay connected.
Assistant Coaches
We encourage all teams to have at least one assistant coach in case of schedule conflicts. Assistant Coaches are determined by the head coach who will need to send an email to mpysa2018@gmail.com and ask for the assistant coach to be added to a team.
Note: This request MUST come from the head coach. Requirements for an assistant coach is the same as head coach.
